An award-winning traveling photo exhibit designed to expand how Hawaii defines “family” will debut four new additions to the collection at an exhibition scheduled to open Wed., Nov. 2, at ING Direct Cafe (1958 Kalakaua Ave., Honolulu) in Waikiki.
Captured through the lens of Honolulu photographer Mike Ang, Hawaii Family Portraits takes viewers on an emotional journey by telling the stories of Hawaii families with lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) members, sharing in their joys, sorrows, tragedies and triumphs as they negotiate life in The Aloha State.
The exhibition, which will run Nov. 2 – 30, will feature four new additions to the collection, all from The Big Island, making the exhibit representative of Hawaii’s four major islands.
ING Direct will host a reception with the photographer Sat., Nov. 5, from 3 -5 p.m. ING will provide light pupus. Deborah Vial & Carron Barrett, a nationally known rock duo and subjects of one of the portraits, will travel over from Maui to provide entertainment. There is no admission charge and parking is available behind and Ewa of the ING building.
